This study examines the construction of love and intimacy in the Song of Songs from a biblical theological perspective and explores its relevance to contemporary marital relationships. The study employs a qualitative approach through library research and biblical theological analysis, using the text of the Song of Songs as the primary source and biblical commentaries, scholarly books, journal articles, and previous studies as secondary sources. The analysis focuses thematically on textual representations of love, longing, communication, intimacy, the body, desire, and mutuality, followed by a contextual synthesis. The findings indicate that love in the Song of Songs is portrayed as an affective, mutual, personal, communicative, and embodied relationship. Intimacy is not limited to physical closeness but encompasses emotional, verbal, physical, and personal dimensions. The dialogical structure of the text demonstrates the active participation of both lovers, while expressions of admiration, longing, and desire reveal the relational character of love. From a biblical theological perspective, the Song of Songs does not present a systematic doctrine of marriage but offers a relational vision grounded in mutuality, communication, appreciation, and holistic intimacy. These findings are relevant to contemporary marriage by emphasizing reciprocal participation, affective communication, respect for the partner, and the integration of emotional and physical intimacy. Thus, the Song of Songs provides a theological resource for reflecting on marriage as a relationship continually shaped by mutual love, recognition, and self-giving.
