ARCHIVE POLICY
Archive Policy for Journal Views
At Views, we are committed to maintaining the long-term availability, integrity, and accessibility of all published research. This Archive Policy outlines how the journal handles the preservation and dissemination of its content to ensure that it remains accessible to readers and researchers over time.
1. Digital Preservation
Views takes steps to ensure that its published content is preserved digitally and remains accessible in the long term. We use a combination of strategies and third-party services to safeguard the journal’s articles:
-
Institutional Repositories: All articles published in Views are deposited in institutional repositories, where they are preserved for long-term access. Authors are encouraged to upload their work to their own institutional repository, provided this does not conflict with the journal’s copyright policy.
-
Long-Term Archiving Services: Views is committed to archiving articles with reputable long-term preservation services, such as Portico and CLOCKSS, ensuring that all articles are stored in secure, digitally preserved environments for future access. These services guarantee that the content will remain available even if the journal’s website or hosting service experiences technical difficulties or discontinuation.
-
DOI (Digital Object Identifier): Each published article receives a DOI (Digital Object Identifier), which provides a permanent and unique link to the article. The DOI ensures that the article can be consistently accessed, even if URLs change over time.
2. Backup and Redundancy
To further ensure long-term accessibility, Views employs regular backup procedures for all published content. Backups are stored in multiple locations to minimize the risk of data loss due to unforeseen circumstances. These backups are maintained according to the best practices for data integrity and recovery.
3. Open Access and Public Accessibility
Views follows an open-access model, making all published content freely accessible to readers. All articles are available online without subscription barriers. By adhering to the open-access principle, Views ensures that the published research is widely accessible to the global research community and the public, promoting the dissemination of knowledge.
-
Permanent Online Access: Articles will remain freely available on the Views website in perpetuity. We do not impose time-based access restrictions on our published content.
-
Archival Copies: Authors retain the right to upload the final, published version of their articles to their personal or institutional repositories, ensuring that copies of the research are also preserved and accessible in different digital locations.
4. Copyright and Licensing
As part of our commitment to open access, all articles published in Views are made available under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) License. This allows anyone to freely share, copy, distribute, and adapt the work, provided appropriate credit is given to the original authors. This open licensing policy supports the long-term accessibility and usability of research articles.
-
Authors retain copyright over their work and grant Views the right to publish it under the CC BY license. This ensures that authors can disseminate their research freely while maintaining ownership.
5. Archival Content Availability
All content published in Views, including research articles, reviews, and other types of content, will remain accessible on the journal’s website and through archiving services, even if a particular issue is no longer actively promoted. Archived articles can be accessed and downloaded by anyone, free of charge.
-
Permanent Access: Published content will be permanently archived on Views' website and third-party archiving platforms. This includes issues and individual articles that may no longer be featured prominently in the journal’s current issues.
6. Updating and Correcting Published Articles
In cases where published articles require corrections or updates due to errors or new findings, Views follows a clear policy of issuing corrections, errata, or retractions. These updates will be clearly linked to the original article to maintain the article's historical accuracy while ensuring that readers have access to the most up-to-date version of the work.
-
Correction and Retraction Policy: In line with our commitment to integrity, Views will issue corrections if errors are discovered in an article post-publication. Retractions will be made if serious issues are found with the article's content, such as scientific misconduct or ethical violations.
7. Indexing and Database Storage
Views aims to ensure that all of its published content is indexed by prominent academic databases and repositories. This includes ensuring that all articles are discoverable and available through platforms such as Google Scholar, CrossRef, and other citation databases. The journal also works with services like DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals) to further promote and preserve the accessibility of its content.
-
Database Archiving: Articles published in Views are indexed in major scholarly databases and repositories, which guarantees that they are easily discoverable and remain accessible to researchers, scholars, and the general public over time.
8. Withdrawals and Archival Access
If an article is withdrawn from publication, it will still be retained in the archives with a note indicating the reason for withdrawal. However, it will be clearly marked as “withdrawn” to inform users of its status.
-
Archive Marking: Withdrawn or retracted articles will remain in the journal’s archive but will be clearly marked with a “withdrawn” or “retracted” notice. The article will be accessible to readers for transparency, and the notice will link to any relevant explanations or corrections.
9. Archiving of Supplementary Materials
In addition to the main article text, Views also archives supplementary materials such as data sets, appendices, and supplementary files. These materials will be stored and made available alongside the original publication, where applicable.
-
Supplementary Content: Authors are encouraged to upload any relevant supplementary materials (e.g., data sets, code, supplementary figures) with their articles. These materials will be archived and made accessible to users for reference.
10. Long-Term Access and Compliance
Views is committed to ensuring that its content remains accessible for the long term, even as technology and platforms evolve. We will continually review and adapt our archival practices to comply with emerging standards for digital preservation.
-
Continuous Review: The journal will review its archival strategy regularly to ensure that it remains in compliance with the best practices for long-term digital preservation, ensuring that all content remains accessible to researchers and the public.
