Abstract
This study is motivated by the tendency of church ministry to remain focused on liturgical activities while lacking tangible engagement with social realities. At the same time, the Gospel, as the core of Christian faith, is often understood primarily in terms of personal salvation rather than as a transformative social force. This condition reveals a gap between normative theology and practical ministry. Therefore, this study aims to examine the Gospel as an operational force for social transformation through the recontextualization of holistic ministry based on the exemplary model of Han Kyung Chik within the context of church and Christian education in Indonesia. This research employs a qualitative reflective-critical approach with an action research design, in which Community Service (PKM) serves as a space for implementation and testing of the proposed model. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using thematic analysis combined with theological reflection. The findings indicate that the Gospel possesses personal, communal, and structural dimensions that are capable of transforming both individuals and society. The recontextualization of the exemplary model results in a holistic ministry framework that is integrative, adaptive, and participatory. The implementation of this model through PKM demonstrates a clear integration of faith, action, and social impact, as evidenced by shifts in church paradigms, the internalization of Gospel values, and increased social awareness within the community. In conclusion, PKM proves to be an effective medium for the implementation of practical theology, bridging the gap between theological concepts and social reality. This study contributes to the development of a contextual and relevant holistic ministry model for church and Christian education in Indonesia.
